Emphasized as “in honour bound to Gaziantep” by Tahir Tekin Öztan,
the owner of Sahan restaurants; Sahan Şirehan is the
largest caravansary of the Southeast… It was built by the order of Halep
Governor Cemil Paşa in 1885. Reflecting the commercial practices and economic
status of Gaziantep city and build by the cooperation of people of
Gaziantep, this caravansary is one of the most beautiful and strong
buildings of the Ottoman era. Şirehan was constructed during the reign of
Abdülhamit II with the money collected from the people by the mayor Mustafa Ağa
